Join us on November 5th as we celebrate the United States’ largest land mammal! On May 9, 2016, the President signed the National Bison Legacy Act. This made the bison the official U.S. National Mammal. Bison were facing extinction until a group of zoos, ranchers, Native Americans, and the U.S. government joined together to save the species in the early 1900s. The bison now stands as a symbol of the American principles of unity, resilience, and healthy communities and landscapes.
Enjoy a day at the Zoo with special keeper chats and enrichment activities. There will also be bison bio-facts available at the bison exhibit along with fun facts and videos.
