The Buttonwood Park Zoo Turns 125
For years, the zoo has stayed true to its mission of preserving the future of wildlife and connecting the community to the natural world. Now in 2019, the place that has earned the title of “one of the finest small zoos in America” turns 125.
“With so many species becoming threatened, endangered, or extinct, an institution like Buttonwood Park Zoo has the impact to harness environmental stewardship,” director Keith Lovett said. “We have the opportunity to be the voice in the community that is teaching our children and encouraging our adults to not only care about the environment, but to act on the environment’s behalf.”
