FrogWatch Trainings
Saturdays, March 1 and 8 from 1-3pm
Local frogs need your help! Amphibian populations are declining worldwide so it’s important for to learn as much as we can about these animals. Here’s how you can help! Join the Buttonwood Park Zoo’s FrogWatch Chapter! FrogWatch USA is a nationwide frog and toad monitoring program. Learn to identify local frog and toad calls at two training sessions on Saturdays, March 1 & 8, from 1-3pm. Then explore local wetlands to help contribute critical data to the long-term scientific study. Ready to become a citizen scientist?

Yoga at the Zoo
Wednesdays, February 26, March 12, & 26 at 1pm
Get your child jumping like frogs or roaring like lions at our February Yoga at the Zoo. Join certified children’s yoga instructor Lynda Jacobvitz to explore creative movement through games, songs and simple yoga with your child in a fun and nurturing environment. They will wag their downward dog tails using a variety of multi-sensory experiences. Class is offered to children with a parent, grandparent or caregiver. Recommended for ages 2-5. Participants may pre-register and pre-pay for Yoga at the Zoo by calling (508) 991-4556 x 18.

February 15: Will Zoo Be Mine?
Love is in the air over at the Buttonwood Park Zoo. This Saturday, February 15, the Zoo will host a special Valentine’s Day celebration, Will Zoo Be Mine. Throughout Saturday’s event, visitors will have the opportunity to see Valentine’s themed enrichment offered to the animals throughout the day. The harbor seals will steal your heart at our 12pm & 3pm Seal Valentine’s Extravaganza where one lucky guest will win a personalized painting from our seals.
Activities included with zoo admission are: a full day of Valentine’s themed animal enrichments, opportunity for children to make a special Valentine’s Day card for a favorite zoo friend and a chance to win a free zoo membership if you guess how many candy hearts are in the jar. Cookie decorating kits are available for $3 per kit at the Bear’s Den Cafe. The Buttonwood Park Zoo is open 9:00am-4:00pm, daily, with the last admission at 3:15pm. Zoo admission prices are $6/ New Bedford resident adult; $4.50/New Bedford senior or student; $8/non-resident adult; $6/non-resident senior or student; $4/non-resident child; and all children under 3 are free.
