The zoo has animals has that can be found all over North America and some from other parts of the world. Many of the animals you’ll see are found locally. One of the Zoo’s themes, “From the Berkshires to the Sea” focuses on the land and water based wildlife of Massachusetts.
These pages offer information on many of the species: what they look like, where they live, what they eat, and their life cycles.
While visiting these pages, please keep in mind that the zoo’s exhibits and displays are dynamic and that changing seasons bring changes in some areas, especially at the waterfowl pond, where migratory birds are (naturally) free to come and go as they please. Now and then some of the animals featured on these pages may not actually be seen at the zoo. There are also species at the zoo that are not represented here.
For a great experience and a chance to learn more about local wildlife and wildlife around the world, we encourage you to visit us in person.
