K-2nd grade

Water – Students will explore the physical properties of water and explore where water is found around the world.

Weather – Students connect the water cycle and weather. How do phase changes create weather? What do weather systems look like on a global scale? Explore the atmosphere over land, water, the poles, around the world!

Wonder of Birds – What makes a bird a bird? (Hint: It’s probably not what you think!) Join us as we explore eggs, feathers, and the other unique characteristics of our feathered friends.

3rd – 5th grade

Animal Adaptations – Using the zoo’s otters, beavers, and seals, we’ll explore how the different animals have adapted to the same habitat – water. We’ll explore the similarities and differences among the animals.

Weather – Students connect the water cycle and weather. How do phase changes create weather? What do weather systems look like on a global scale? Explore the atmosphere over land, water, the poles, around the world!

Energy and Living Things – Where do living things get their energy? Students explore the transformation of energy through the food chain, determining what is essential for growing and living. They compare different energy sources, from the top of a mountain to the bottom of the ocean.

Crazy About Science – Crazy about Science offers hands-on science experiments and activities that scientists of all ages will love!

6th – 8th grade

The Bones Tell the Tale – Developed with Dartmouth MS and Jonathan Waage to fulfill the MS-LS4-2 science standard, this program involves three activities:

1) using the skulls and teeth of animals to discover what they eat, and who they are related to in the classroom;

2) exploring arms and legs to learn about homology and convergence in locomotion with a self-guided worksheet; and

3) comparing animals that live in water to see how their similar solutions have converged from rather different starting points with a self-guided worksheet
