Buttonwood Park Zoological Society Presents Outstanding Service Awards

Charlie Winterhalter accepts the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society Outstanding Service Award.
 

Five individuals vital to the success of Buttonwood Park Zoo were honored at the annual meeting of the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society held Thursday, December 6th. 

 

Charlie Winterhalter was presented with the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society Outstanding Service Award for his eight years of service on the Board of the Zoological Society.  Charlie began his involvement with the fund raising effort for the new zoo and played a large role in raising the funds necessary for the construction of the Wildlife Education Center.  His dedication and generosity has only grown since then and he has played an important role in the growth and success of the zoo over the years through fundraising, promotional partnerships and more.

 

Deborah and Ben Baker of Baker Books were also presented with the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society Outstanding Service Award in recognition for their generous support of programs such as "Books and Bears", evening talks and presentations by authors at the zoo and magical events like the final Harry Potter book release party at the zoo.

 

Fred Smialek, stepping down as Buttonwood Park Zoological Society president, received the Outstanding Service Award for his years of dedication as president.  Kim Saunders has been elected the new Buttonwood Park Zoological Society president.

 

Irene Avilla, executive assistant at the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society, was given an award for her excellent work at the zoo.
