Buttonwood Park Zoo Announces New After-Dark Experiences

New Bedford, MA - February 15, 2007 Experience "one of the finest small zoos in the United States" in a new light...flashlight! Buttonwood Park Zoo is excited to announce Flashlight Adventures; two new after-dark experiences for scout, school, and community groups of twenty to forty people. Participants can choose to spend the night in the zoo during a Critter Camp-In, or take a Twilight Tour before heading home to sleep in the comfort of their own beds. Every Flashlight Adventure is a unique experience, but all include meals, a night hike by flashlight, and an exciting and interactive learning experience. Actual programming depends largely on the theme chosen by the group, but activities might include dissecting owl pellets, designing a zoo exhibit, or working as a detective to solve the Case of the Covert Chicken. After awakening to the sounds of waterfowl and Sandhill Cranes, Critter Camp-In participants embark on a morning hike of interactive experiences with the zoo’s animals and zookeepers. For more information, please contact the overnight program coordinator at (508) 991-4556 ext. 11 or send an e-mail to jkarow@bpzoo.org.

Buttonwood Park Zoo is open year round, seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission: $6 adults, $4.50 Seniors and Teens, $3 children ages 3-12, children under 3 are free. For more information, call (508) 991-6178 or visit www.bpzoo.org.
