What do we do if it rains?

The Buttonwood Park Zoo is an outdoor facility and is open year-round. The Education Department does not cancel programming/visits due to rain or snow. If you choose not to visit the zoo on an inclement day, please call and cancel your program/visit. You will not be charged for the cancellation and we will make every effort to reschedule if possible. If you do choose to visit us, please make sure your group is dressed for the weather.

What about lunch?

Groups are strongly encouraged to leave their lunches on the bus. The zoo will not store lunches for you. Groups entering the zoo with their lunches must carry them. Picnic tables are available at the Picnic Grove, located on the lawn across from the Asian Elephant Exhibit and near the Wildlife Carousel. Space is also available in the park outside the zoo for picnicking.

The zoo’s restaurant, The Bear’s Den Café, serves kids meals and a full menu of other items. Seating in the Café is reserved for Café customers only. If your group would like to purchase lunch at the Café, please contact the Café staff one week prior to your visit to make arrangements at (508) 991-4556 X 16.
